Helping Those in Need

The guest speaker at the First Thursday meeting of Collin County Rotary Club on March 7, 6 PM is Mark Hinzman from the Texas Ramp Project. Mark joined the Texas Ramp Project Board in 2021 and his focus includes creating and expanding strategic partnerships with businesses, service clubs and other non-profit organizations.
Mark retired from the corporate world in 2022. He spent 36 years in sales and business development roles in technology services at Samsung, AT&T and Sprint. In addition to his TRP work, Mark delivers for Meals On Wheels and has served on church boards that encourage legacy giving.
A native of Wisconsin, Mark moved to Texas in 1982 where he met his wife Cathy. They have been married 40 years and are the proud parents of two daughters who teach elementary school in the DFW area.

Are you ready for the once in a lifetime solar eclipse on April 8? Weather forecaster Roy Ponder will be the guest speaker at Collin County Rotary Club on Thursday, April 4, 6 PM at the Fairfield Inn, 1600 N Hardin Blvd in McKinney. Bring a friend with a HEART FOR SERVICE. Since his childhood, Roy Ponder, aka POW Ponder on Weather, has had a passion for the weather. In 2017, POW Ponder on Weather was born, he launched a Facebook page as an outlet to fulfill his hobby and help him to craft his forecasting skills. He created the motto “Protecting you before and after the storm”, because he literally does just that. His forecasting style relies on the 120 years’ worth of weather data, he is an analyst by nature and matches up analogs and weather patterns from past events to create his forecast. He has grown his platform from Facebook and now has a channel on YouTube, where he forecasts nationwide with daily videos and live to report on high-impact events.
